Good afternoon from Butler & Bailey Market!
We have another nice week of weather going on in Rocky Hill. I rolled back into work yesterday after being out of town a few days. When I got here, they were putting the finishing touches on our new computer system up front. I was hoping to miss the whole process by being out of town, so I almost timed that perfectly. When I got back to work some of the staff said “You really were gone. We thought you were just joking about missing the computer installation”. Nope, there is always truth in everything I write. I sometimes just mix a little, or lot, of literary license in just in case I get sued and need a legal defense.
Speaking of that, I wrote about the Coca-Cola company last week. They made me mad about Fresca, and I expressed that. Well, what do you know, they emailed me Monday with an amended contract allowing us to buy peach Fresca from them. I guess the pen is still mightier than the sword… sometimes. Good thing! I don’t even have a sword. I just have a Case pocket knife I bought next door at the hardware store, but they don’t need to know that!
We did sell all the peach Fresca I bootlegged in, so I hope more shows up on the Coke truck tomorrow. I’m ready for my bootlegging days to be over.
It’s Bama week around here this week. Everyone has been pretty busy here getting ready for the big game on Saturday. I think it’s a 3:30 game, which makes it perfect for tailgating.
The folks in our Bakery/Deli Department have prepared a lot of orange & white cookies, cupcakes, and other sweet goods. We will also have our usual fried chicken, chicken tenders, and sandwiches.
Josh in our Meat Department is smoking a large variety of meats for the weekend. He will have smoked bologna, smoked sausage, pulled pork, pork loin, chicken wings, and I even saw some sliced & cooked beef tenderloin back there. He will probably have some other things, depending on how much time he has. They will also be cutting some thick steaks for the victory parties. And if we lose… a thick steak will make you forget about it sooner. So, that’s a win either way.
Lea was here yesterday making a batch of her “Better in Blue” blue cheese dressing. She handcrafts this dressing from scratch. Everyone that tries it seems to get hooked. It would go great with Josh’s wings, as well as the vegetable trays our Produce Department puts together. You can find it in the refrigerated section of our Produce Department.
These are just a few of the many things we will have to help you get ready for the game this weekend.
I hope everyone has a great weekend… unless you are a Bama fan. GO VOLS
