By Tom Butler

Good afternoon from Butler & Bailey Market. I hope everyone is having a good week. Well we elected a new president last week, and once again, about half the country is happy, the other half is unhappy, and the last half just doesn’t know what to think. I am sure that will ebb and flow over the next four years. We then will have another election and however it turns out, there will be happiness and unhappiness split about equally.

I have become somewhat indifferent to election results. That’s not to say I don’t have strong disagreement with some of the decisions that both parties make, but I don’t operate very well if I start my day mad about the political party in power. I have also learned over the years that my professional successes and failures have mostly been by my own doing, not because of or in spite of the political party in power. I work in a business that serves the general public which dictates that we be welcoming to all the people that come through our doors regardless of race, religion, economic standing, and of course, political beliefs. We can’t afford to just serve like minded people and disregard the other half of the population. Politicians might be successful at this but we would go broke. Everyone’s blood is red and everyone’s money is green, so all are welcome here.

On to more important things, this Saturday is our annual Holiday Open House. It will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will be sampling a lot of holiday favorites and we will have several local producers here sampling their products. Among those will be Cruze Farm Dairy, Carnathan’s honey, Planet H2O water, Better n Blue blue cheese dressing, Vienna Coffee and Mayfield Dairy. Barbara Tenney will be here with holiday recipes and advice on how to prepare them. Josh and Ashley will be smoking some pork tenderloin for you to try and preparing some Prime Rib and Beef Tenderloin with our favorite recipes.

Nancy and the folks in the deli will be sampling some of their favorite side dishes and desserts. I plan on walking around acting like I own the place.

It is always a lot of fun for us to put this on and a great opportunity to show our gratitude for all the support you give us throughout the year. I sure hope you will be able to join us!

Have a great weekend and a will see you Saturday!

Thanks for letting us be a part of your community,
